Valera Global’s David Eckstein Wins TLPA Operator of the Year
October 22, 2008
NEW YORK CITY – Valera Global announced that president and founding partner David Eckstein was named the Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association (TLPA) Operator of the Year. Eckstein will accept the honor at the TLPA Annual Convention and Trade Show Award Banquet on Oct. 29, 2008, at the Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina in Tampa, Fla.
Eckstein began his life-long career in transportation while still a student at Long Island University. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Information Systems, Eckstein became a proprietor of Osborne Taxi Corporation. Eckstein later joined a two-way radio taxi cooperative company, Communicar, before co-founding Computer Car in 1987 with Naomi Glaser, Rod Barfield, and Dolores Battelli. In 2007, Computer Car rebranded under the name Valera Global. Eckstein currently serves as Valera Global’s president, and leads the company’s global affiliate program.
A TLPA member since 1984, Eckstein joined the organization as a way to meet industry colleagues who shared his passion for transportation. “I have learned some of my most valuable lessons from my TLPA peers,” Eckstein said. “Being able to associate with other professionals within the transportation industry has helped to provide me with the tools necessary to build a business from the ground up. I am very proud to be recognized by such an exceptional organization.”
